The southern Mexico state of Chiapas is near the Mexico-Guatemala border and is widely known for being a location for migrant caravan assembly and planning. Usually making it as far as Mexico City, it’s there where cartels and coyotes split the groups apart and start picking out their victims. On January 28th, the latest group set out after a week of hanging signs around Tapachula, Chiapas.
Carrying white wooden crosses and banners proclaiming immigration isn’t criminal, as well as ones that admonish governments who aren’t blindly taking them in, they try to get as much attention as possible. Supporting their mission have been government officials who provide them with free shelter, water, and food. Various agencies along the way also provide them with security to the capital city.
These caravans have shown up in record-shattering numbers and flooded our border towns with illegals. While many end up being sent off to places like Denver, Chicago, and NYC, it’s only because these cities offered to take them in. By spreading out this plague, they have unfortunately made crossing the border all that more enticing.
As cities struggle to keep ahead of the flood of illegals, their residents are watching their tax dollars being blown to fund their lives here. Spending millions on people who have never paid in on the system and will more likely than not take far more than they give is a horrible system.
Yet, the illegals keep coming here. Even with many eventually requesting to be sent home after finding out, there isn’t the opportunity they expected here. It’s like they expected what Tony Montana said in Scarface; he should be picking gold off the streets. Sad to say, we have ample problems here, and the more they show up the worse it gets.
