Trump Now Leads Among Latinos, Too

For years now, it has been assumed that the Democratic Party, as the party of inclusion, has been lax on immigration and border security to increase the number of potentially left-leaning voters. However, as a new poll suggests, the plan isn’t working – not in the least.

According to the latest NBC News poll, Trump actually has more support from Latinos than Biden. Additionally, Biden’s approval rating among Hispanic voters has plummeted to a record low of 35 percent.

As I said, the plan is failing. But why?

Well, as Democratic strategist Mike Madrid concluded in a recent opinion piece published in the Los Angeles Times, it basically comes down to the fact that their assumption of what is important to Hispanic voters is wrong.

To explain this, Madrid likens the Democratic Party to the Spanish language media giant Univision.

For years, decades even, Univision and the Democrats have operated with the belief that minority groups like Hispanics will always be for the liberals or at least the left-leaning side of the aisle. Why? Well, because the Democratic Party and Univision seek to make these individuals feel more “included” and unified.

Basically, it was the monolithic view that most Hispanics don’t speak English well and have only recently arrived in the US, making both Univision and a political party that supports open borders fairly popular.

The problem is that’s not really how things are, at least not anymore.

While only about 65 percent of Latinos spoke English in 2010, that number is closer to 72 percent now, according to recent studies. Additionally, the average Latino living in America today has lived here longer than was the case 15 years ago.

So, this means that the average Hispanic voter isn’t quite so concerned with simply being “included.” Instead, they are worried about the same kitchen table ideas the rest of America is. You know, things like taxes, job security, the economy, etc.

Hell, they are even more likely to want closed borders, as more legal Hispanic voters are focusing on community safety and prosperity.

So, as the NBC poll notes, Hispanics now prefer Trump to Biden, albeit by one point, 42 to 41 percent. Additionally, a whopping 60 percent of voters disapprove of Biden’s job performance, including Latinos.
