Much like President Trump, the Double Big Mac was taken away from Americans in 2020. First showing up in March 2020, the COVID pandemic ensured its life was incredibly short. The glutenous creation came with four patties instead of the usual two but didn’t double any of the other ingredients.
Serving as a “new” way to introduce the overhaul of their burgers, the company is doing its best to get consumers to come back to the golden arches. Introducing the new softer buns, crisper searing on the burger patties, and meltier cheese in 2024, the company believes the Double Big Mac could be the poster child for the campaign.
Back in December, McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski told CNN that the demand from consumers has been for bigger burgers. At the time, he claimed the company would be working on it, and giving customers double the beef is a great way to meet that demand.
With consumers watching their wallets more than their waistlines, he explained that their vision would help to keep customers money in their wallets. “We think we’re going to be able to deliver a great tasting large burger at a superior value to what [customers] can get anywhere else.” Mind you, this is a concept they have tried similarly before.
In 2017, the Grand Mac came about. With girthier patties and buns, the burger was a direct shot at the legendary Whopper and its famously wide burgers. Initially, the burger was well received, but customers quickly learned that the oversized patties weren’t nearly as tasty if they weren’t freshly cooked. This led to the burger going away.
Bringing back the Double Big Mac just as Trump is about to return to the White House is a sign of prosperity coming back to America. We should be casting our ballots with these to celebrate the victory.
